Three prominent Ipswich historians will uncover and discuss the careers and contribution to Ipswich by these important city 'builders'.
From 1887 to 1945, Brockwell Gill designed or supervised the construction of some of the city's most iconic buildings including the Ipswich Technical College, the Soldiers Memorial Hall, Ipswich Girls' Grammar School and the Ipswich incinerator.
Haenke worked as an architect in Ipswich from 1900 to 1936 on commissions that included hotels, churches, shops, stables, cattle dips, the Churchill slaughter yards, and he designed some of the Ipswich's best Federation homes - Meiringen, Pindari and Edgbaston.
Bruce Buchanan is probably best known for his extensive work in heritage conservation, restoration and interpretation along with new building commissions. Graduating in 1966 and establishing his own practice in Ipswich from 1975 to 2010, Bruce is also an accomplished landscape painter and has been exhibiting since 1997.
