T. H. Archibald

In July 1913,  Archibald & Loveday, Men's Mercers, Tailors and Gents Outfitters moved into J. M. Parlane's old premises in Brisbane Street, opposite Bell Street. Parlane had closed his tailoring business in mid 1913 where S. G. Loveday had been employed as a cutter. 

A few months into 1914 the partnership of Archibald & Loveday broke up and T. H. Archibald took over as sole owner. At this time in 1914, N. D. Welldon, Solicitor had his office above Archibald's shop. The Royal Bank of Queensland was next door to these establishments. In earlier days W. Munro Smith had occupied Archibald's site. 

Only two years after commencing business as a sole trader, Thomas Archibald announced that he was quitting his business with all stock and fixtures to go up for sale. Robert Hunter who had been head cutter at T. H. Archibald then set up his own tailoring firm, opening in another location in Brisbane Street.
