She will touch on the history of the Ward, its community funded beginnings and talk about the significant changes, challenges, pathways and crossroads of paediatric nursing at the Ipswich Hospital during the last half century.
About Steph
Steph started her career at the Ipswich General Hospital and obtained her Midwifery and Maternal and child Heath Certificates before commencing her long association with the children’s Sunshine Ward. She also gained experience in Darwin and the Central Pacific and also through post graduate studies. After fulfilling the role of Charge Nurse for 37 years and being a member of the Child Abuse and Neglect Team for 27 of those years, Steph retired in 2004. Retirement brought new roles including volunteering with Hilda’s House Bereavement Centre where she spearheaded support groups for bereaved children.
Steph has been honoured with many community awards, culminating in 2005 with an Order of Australia Award.References (online)Click here for high resolutionReference ID2020-11-24 COPAH - Listen to the Children - Steph ShannonAsset TypeWebinar / Talk - MP4Music, Audio and Video (Trove mapping field)lectureRecording Length0:59:30Copyright NoticeThis licence lets you download, redistribute, translate, and remix the work, for NON-COMMERCIAL purposes only.
