DescriptionDetail of the third section panorama of Ipswich in 1865, taken from Limestone Hill. This photograph was from the collection of Biggingee Sorabjee Poochee, a photographer in Ipswich between 1864 and 1877. Poochee had a studio for a short time in 1863 at the corner of Bell and Union Streets, Ipswich. (Information taken from; Safier, Marcel, 'Early photographers of Ipswich, Queensland', 2006, retrieved 17 July 2008, from website). In this image, St Mary’s Catholic Church is located just behind the combined railway and road bridge over the Bremer River. The buildings close to the river on the southern side are the Shipping Stores, and in front of them, the wharfs. On the northern bank of the river is the site of the railway workshops (now, 2014, Riverlink), and Immigration Depot.
