Biggingee Sorabjee Poochee
Biggingee Sorabjee Poochee (also spelt Pochee), was born in Bombay, the present-day city of Mumbai, India, c.1832.
By 1861, he had relocated to Sydney, marrying Mary Ann Williams at Parramatta on the 19th February. Soon after, the couple moved to Ipswich. Their only child, a son Serabga Beyenga was born at Little Ipswich (now West Ipswich) on 7th February 1863.
On the 11th September 1863, the Queensland Times announced Poochee's new photographic business:
PHOTOGRAPHY -- B. S. Pochee begs to inform the inhabitants of Ipswich that he will Open his New and Commodious Photographic Gallery, corner of BELL and UNION STREETS, on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th. From the favourable position of his Gallery, his own practical experience as a Photographer, and the excellent chemicals he uses, B. S. P. is enabled to take portraits that will bear comparison with any yet taken in Queensland.
Parents wishing to have their children's portraits taken will please call between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
B. S. P.'s Cards de Visite have been pronounced unrivalled.
