Events
- Our growing collection of Events can be used to demonstrate events from the past that continues to play a significant role in the present, such as World War I
Map Search
- Use the Picture Ipswich Map Search to locate images of a street or locality familiar to students, this could be around the school or the street where they live
- Picture Ipswich encourages the class to pin images to the map if they have not already been geotagged (note: geotags are moderated before going live on the website)
Places
- Picture Ipswich has collection of hubs that cover all Ipswich suburbs and localities
- As a class, explore content from images, written histories, videos, oral histories and more from your area
- Compare old photos of your suburb with how the suburb looks today
- If students come from beyond the suburb the school is based in, we might have photos of the school building, classrooms, and play areas have changed and how they have remained the same
- Compare the photos of one suburb / school with a neighbouring suburb / school to identify similarities and differences (Ipswich is made up of residential, business and industrial suburbs and rural localities, you could choose photos that represent each of these for the students to discuss)
- If your area or school is underrepresented, students could identify what is missing and help us to fill in the gaps by contributing photos
