DescriptionPanorama of Ipswich in 1865, taken from Limestone Hill. This photograph was from Biggingee Sorabjee Poochee, a photographer in Ipswich between 1864 and 1877. Poochee had a studio for a short time in 1863 at the corner of Bell and Union Streets, Ipswich. (Information taken from; Safier, Marcel, 'Early photographers of Ipswich, Queensland',2006, retrieved 17 July 2008, from the website. Places visible include Gooloowan, Queen’s Park, Hospital, Courthouse, St Stephens Presbyterian Church, Tattersalls Hotel [Ipswich Libraries] School, Bank of New South Wales, Palais Royal Hotel, School of Arts (later Town Hall, now Ipswich Art Gallery), St Paul’s Anglican Church, Cribb and Foote department store, Claremont, Ipswich Grammar School, Railway Station, George Thorn’s store (formerly John Panton’s), St Mary’s Catholic Church, shipping stores, wharves, Railway and road bridge over the Bremer River, Railway Workshops, and Immigration depot.
