Eliza was born in Antrim, Belfast in 1828. An Eliza McCanally (McConally) is listed on the Irish Famine Memorial database. She was 20 years old and was from Antrim, Belfast. Her parents, Samuel and Margaret had both died.

Eliza arrived in NSW (now Queensland) in 1848 and the following year she married Ticket of Leave convict, Edward Moore on 4 June 1849.

She died in October 1902 at the age of 74. Her death notice in the local paper stated that she had four daughters and two sons still living and four children had predeceased her. She was described as being "of a quiet retiring disposition.'
