Edward Moore

Edward Moore served his time in Port Macquarie and after receiving his Ticket of Leave in 1843 he made his way to Ipswich.

At a land sale in Brisbane in Mary 1848, Edward purchased Lot 17 which was 32 perches at 12s 6d for 20 pounds.

He married Eliza Jane Macanally in 1849. Eliza was born in Antrim, Belfast in 1828. She was 20 years old when she immigrated to Queensland in 1848. Both of her parents had died by this time. An Eliza McCanally (McConally) is listed on the Irish Famine Memorial database. 

An Edward Moore was on the Electoral List of 1855 as 'freeholder' on the Bremer River.

Eliza died at the age of 74 on 22 July 1902 and was buried on 23 July 1902 in the Ipswich General Cemetery in Roman Catholic 1A. Her death notice in the local paper stated that she had four daughters and two sons still living and four children has predeceased her. One child died in 1860 and a dispute arose between Edward Moore and Father McGinty regarding payment of money towards the burial ground.

The Moore family home at Warrill Creek was destroyed by fire in October 1879. This was a difficult time for the family as they had lost their 25 year old son William by accidental death on 16 January 1879.
