Eugene Doucette (Lucette)
Description
GenderMaleLife Story
Eugene Doucette also known as Eugene or John Lucette was only 18 when he was transported. He was one of a group of prisoners who had been transported from Mauritius, previously a French colony but now British.
When the stock of blankets was checked at Limestone in 1841, Doucette could not produce his blanket. He claimed that it had been taken from his hut. He received 40 lashes.
A few months later, Doucette was sent to watch maize. He probably went to sleep because he was found lying down among the corn. Douchette was found guilty of neglect.
