DescriptionStaff of Johnson Coach Works. F. W. Johnson is the man with the beard third from the left. This building was on the corner of Limestone and Ellenborough Streets. F. W. Johnson (Frederick William), started his coach business in Ipswich in March, 1884. He was an Alderman in Ipswich from 1907-1912. His sons, William and Ernest Briggs Johnson took over the firm in 1920 and the firm began dealing in motor cars. They purchased the Old Flour Mill, in Brisbane Street West, in 1926 and it was used as a garage and motor car showroom.
