Built about 1916 for Ipswich businessman J. P. Bottomley. A butcher and pastoralist, he also served on the Purga Shire Council and Ipswich City Council. The grounds were often used for fund-raising events such as garden parties. A Federation style home, bought by the Ipswich Club in 1959. The home was at one time named 'Kranah'.
