DescriptionThe restoration work on Goleby House was entered in the Heritage Awards category of the 2016 Design, Heritage and Environment Awards. Jason Low was presented with a Gold Award and the Overall Heritage Award for Excellence.
The building had deteriorated, not having any major repairs done for decades. The objective was to restore it to its original condition while honouring the colourful history of the building over the last 100 years or so, focusing on conserving as much original material and design as possible. Work included restoring the upper level window hoods on Brisbane Street and West Street facades, restoring lower level awning to West Street, repainting the entire building externally and renovating the facade of 197 Brisbane Street.
