It was live, local and captured the imagination of a city.
Radio was coming into communities across Australia during this period of time. It was and continues to be a significant way in which we gain local news, information and connect with others in the city. Founded in Ipswich by William (Bill) Johnson and established in what is known today as “the Flour Mill”.
This presentation will trace key moments in its history and Dr Ashley Jones will share key learnings that come from such a rich history. Dr. Ashley Jones is the Senior Lecture and Discipline Convenor of Radio and Television Broadcast at the University of Southern Queensland. He has over 40 years of media industry experience and as an educator. He has worked in commercial broadcast television and radio as well as in newspaper and advertising agencies. He is a current radio broadcaster across inland Queensland each Saturday with Talking Queensland, on the Resonate Radio Network.
