Norman George Vincent - Builder

Norman George Vincent, grandson of building contractor George Williams, set up a building firm in Ipswich in the 1920s in partnership with Horace Harper, called "Harper & Vincent".

Some of the projects the firm was contracted to complete included:

• The new catering hall for Whitehouses' premies working under well known Ipswich architect, George Brockwell Gill.
• Carpentry work for Norm Vincent's Uncle, Harry O. Williams's house at 9 Bennett Street.
• Alterations and additions to the New South Wales Bank c.1932.
• Residence in Boonah in the vicinity of Church Street for Mr. A. G. Muller, 1935.
• Renovations of the old "Queensland Times" building on the corner of Ellenborough and Brisbane Streets in 1939, under the direction of George Brockwell Gill.
• Bushhouse and workshop at Queens Park c.1940
• Building alterations and additions in 1941 to the Town Hall in Brisbane Street, Ipswich.
• Helping in the construction of some of the Air Force base buildings at Amberley during World War II.
• Renovations to 2 Court Street, Ipswich from the late 1940s to the early 1950s.
• Building his own home at 11 Macalister Street, West Ipswich in the mid 1960s.
