Australian South Sea Islanders
South Sea Islanders were removed from their island homes (mostly against their will) and were brought to Australia to work in the cane fields, on sugar plantations and the properties of European settlers. South Sea Islanders worked and lived in Ipswich, some in the rural areas and some lived within what we now call the Central Business District.
