The Ipswich Civic Centre was opened by the then Prime Minister, Gough Whitlam on 19 July 1975. The building was designed by architect Brian Simpson.
The Civic Centre combines entertainment venue with community-focused function centre, hosting touring performances, corporate functions, conferences, community events, wedding receptions, school formals, graduation ceremonies, and eisteddfods.
