The Strand Hotel

The Queensland Hotel located on The Terrace at North Ipswich previously stood on the same site for about 57 years. Constance Marian Sullivan changed the name of the hotel to The Strand when she became the new proprietor of the establishment in late 1921.  In 1920/21 M.T. (Mick) Sullivan purchased the freehold of the Queensland Hotel and W. Power's lease, adding a concrete cellar under the bar, rebuilding and refurnishing. Aerated waters were produced on the premises and Bulimba draught beer was bottled on the premises. In 1922 it was reported that there were footballers' training rooms with electricity and showers also provided at the hotel.

In 2017  the Ipswich City Council designated The Strand Hotel a "character place" in Ipswich. As such it is subject to provisions of the planning scheme as a character place.

Greg and Annette Morrissy and family managed and operated The Strand from the late 1990s until 2021, making theirs probably the longest tenure at the pub.

The Strand Hotel in North Ipswich has new management as of June 2021.
