Description
DescriptionIn 2016, volunteers of the Ipswich Hospital Museum commenced transcribing the original handwritten minutes of the Ipswich Hospital and Benevolent Asylum, 1863 to 1876. The minutes contain a wealth of information relating to the running of the hospital, and the efforts of staff and the Ipswich community to keep the hospital open and funded. These pages contain a glimpse of what it was like to work in a hospital in the middle of the 19th century and the variety of ailments and accidents that befall the residents of Ipswich. This project was completed with funds from the 2018 Viva Cribb Bursary, provided by Ipswich City Council.
