DescriptionTo commemorate 150 years of Ipswich Municipality, a special council meeting was held in the Ipswich Civic Centre on Monday 12th April, 2010. This booklet, produced for the event, outlines the steps taken in 1859 by the Ipswich community to petition the Governor to have Ipswich declared a Municipality, and provides an account of the initial council meetings, where Alderman John Murphy was elected the first Mayor of Ipswich and E.B. Cullen was appointed the first Town Clerk.
