Description
DescriptionThis streetscape of Nicholas Street shows businesses including The City Silk Store; Ipswich Hardware; E.W. Vance Chemist; Arthur A. Everding and Son Mercers and Clothiers; Smiths Newsagency; B.C.C. Stores; Grace Salon; Saba Bros. Drapers and Mercers; Rockmans; Whitehouses Café; Malcolm Campbell Dentist; and Del-Rae Salon. Between the groups of buildings is the old railway bridge. The buildings and rail bridge would be demolished as part of the revitalisation of the Ipswich CBD in 1987. The site of Saba’s is currently occupied by Bendigo Bank (2014) and is the only building remaining from this 1956 streetscape.
