DescriptionJohn Francis Lobb was Mayor of Ipswich in 1920 and an alderman from 1912 – 1914 and 1917 – 1921. Born in 1873 in Liverpool, England, he came with his family to Australia in 1881. He travelled as a tea merchant with offices in Ellenborough Street before serving as an Alderman for Ipswich City Council. He was at times a member of the Ipswich Fire Brigade Board, the Ipswich Technical College and the School of Arts. In retirement he moved to Sydney. He passed away in 1944.
