AddBy: Picture Ipswich3rd Mar 2025 3:28PMSENSORY HISTORY: On the 3rd of March 2025, Council staff were asked to look at this image and to write down what the image evoked, from a sensory perspective. They noted the following:
SEE: Soft drink crates; delivery trucks; men in aprons; antique cars; smoke from furnaces and machinery; drivers in hats and aprons.
SMELL: exhaust/fumes from cars; the sweetness of sugar inside the factory; fuel/lead petrol; dirt roads; fresh bread from the nearby baker; sap etc. of the trees.
TOUCH: The dirt of the road; the hot vinyl seats of the trucks; wooden posts, verandahs and signs; glass bottles.
TASTE: Sugar; dust from the road.
HEAR: the crunch of gravel underfoot; wind in the Jacaranda trees; Church bells ringing; steam train whistle; clinking of glass bottles in crates; trucks; talking, singing, shouting of workmen.
