Heart and Soul: Celebrating 40 years of the Ipswich Civic Centre

Heart and Soul celebrated 40 years of the Ipswich Civic Centre in July 2015.

Events included:

• Seniors' Concert with the legendary Ipswich City 4IP Big Band, held on Friday 17th July 10:00am to 11:15am.  The Ipswich City 4IP Big Band (Allan Brown Big Band) performed at the opening of the Ipswich Civic Centre in 1975.  The 20-piece big band re-created the sounds of swing, soul, jazz, funk, pop and Latin music.  All tickets were $10.
• The Mayor's Command Performance, with Guest Artist Kate Ceberano, held on Saturday 18th July, from 7:30pm.  Kate Ceberano and her band performed along with local rising singer-songwriter Sahara Beck, Those Tap Guys, and Best of Brass.  Community artists included the Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir, Ipswich Orpheus Chorale and the Ipswich Musical Theatre Company.  Tickets were $55 for adults, and $45 for concession card holders and students.
• Civic Centre Open Day was held on Sunday 19th July, 10:00am to 2:00pm.  Entertainment was provided by buskers, roving performers, community performances, and a performing arts expo promoting local dance studios, theatre companies, choirs and higher education institutions.  Exhibits of memorabilia and photos from events held at the Civic Centre were on display and behind-the-scenes guided tours
