Smith's Ipswich Newsagency

The shop at 43 Nicholas Street, Ipswich housed newsagencies for many years. Stenner's Newsagency was there from at least 1937 until the end of 1945 when they sold out to F. J. Smith.

On the first of January 1946 the shop began trading as Smith's Ipswich Newsagency and continued to trade here for at least another 12 years. The newsagency in Central Chambers sold newspapers, books, periodicals, stationery and fancy goods.

The building was demolished in the mid 1980s as part of the Ipswich CBD redevelopment. In the 1950s Arthur A. Everding & Son (mercers) , and Brisbane Cash & Carry (B.C.C.) were Smith's next door neighbours.
