Fehr's Electrical & Battery Service

Before he started Fehr's Electrical & Battery Service, Max Fehr was an electrician located in premises at 54 Nicholas Street. In 1931 he went into business by himself and soon after moved to Brisbane Street. This was likely 66 Brisbane Street where he was located until 1935. In September of that year he moved the business to 69 Brisbane Street, at the corner of Wharf and Brisbane Streets. He and his wife also resided at this address. Fehr's would remain here until at least 1955. Max Fehr was an Ipswich businessman and store-owner for 24 years, and probably more. 

In the beginning, the business was known as Fehr's Electrical & Battery Service but by 1936 it was just called Fehr's. At this point,  Max was selling motorcycle batteries and generators. Later he would sell tools, car parts, battery chargers, garden hoses, cycle lamps, teapots, second-hand tractors and cars. Fehr's was also a dealer for International Harvester. 

Max and Hulda Fehr had three daughters: Helen, Margaret, and Joan who was a champion swimmer and Olympian.
