Description
In 1981 a sixteen year old clerk's first tax return showed her income as $4035.00 which was $77.59 a week.
The Australian Institute of Family Studies found that a man working full-time in 1981, earned $311 a week. While, a woman working full-time earned $241. This was a gender pay gap of 23%. Interestingly, the studies found that more women worked full-time when they were teenagers and in their early twenties in 1979, than their counterparts do today.
