Wicks & Co, Ipswich

Vincent Patrick Wicks hailed from the Toowoomba area. He was wounded in World War I and discharged in 1917. Around the beginning of 1918 he opened a photographic portrait studio upstairs in Goleby's Buildings in Brisbane Street. The following year V. P. Wicks was providing colour and enlarging services. In the 1920s his work was described as artistic photography involving portraits and colouring. Wicks photographed sports teams and weddings. His business was often referred to as Wicks Studio or Wicks Photographer. 

Sometime in the early to mid 1920s Wicks moved his photographic studio to Nicholas Street in Greenham Chambers, near the corner of Brisbane Street. He would remain here for the rest of his life and career, continuing to work until the late 1940s. He died on 3 September 1950 in Ipswich General Hospital.
