Corona Cafe

Edward Finch and George Nixon registered their business and proprietorship of the Corona Cafe in Nicholas Street, as pastrycooks and confectioners, in the middle of 1920. Within a couple of months Corona Cafe was well established with sports and community clubs making use of the cafe and room above for meetings including: Ipswich & West Moreton Cricket Association, Western Star Lodge, City Concert Orchestra, and West Moreton Cycling Club.

The cafe was often referred to as Finch & Nixon's Cafe or Finch & Nixon's Corona Cafe.

In June 1925 the partnership of Finch and Nixon was dissolved or expired and an auction sale on Wednesday 17 June of cafe stock, furniture, plant & equipment was held by Jackson & Meyers on the premises.

From 18 June 1925, Edward Finch became the sole proprietor of Corona Cafe. He continued in this role into the 1930s. During that decade, Finch's Cafe (as it was also known) was still well used by local clubs for their meetings and dinners including: Ipswich and Suburban Table Tennis Association, and West Moreton Kennel Club. The room over the cafe was used by two separate music teachers: Clyda Appleton and Miss Mamie Conroy.

Corona Cafe was still operating in February 1939. It is not known when the cafe closed.
