The Convicts of Mauritius information on the Moreton Bay and More website tells the story of Cassin (Cassim) including his adventures during the flood of 1841. While stationed at Ipswich, Cassim 'alternately walked and swam to Brisbane to let the authorities know of the situation upstream. Legend had it that he washed up at Petrie Bight, to the astonishment of the locals'.
