Model Hat Store

The Model Hat Store opened Monday 6 December 1926 at 24 Nicholas Street, next to Bearkleys.

The store supplied the latest fashion in women's hats and headwear.  Wearing a hat to church, weddings, funerals, and most events in between was expected. Most women owned more than one hat so a millinery business was a viable one at the time.  Custom made hats and wedding veils were popular and the Model Hat Store supplied many Ipswich brides and bridal parties with headwear.

On Thursday 6 October 1949 the Model Hat Store opened in a new location at 78 Brisbane Street, next to the Palais Royal Hotel. 

The hat store was still trading in December 1954.

In the 1950s the City Cafe was located next door in Brisbane Street.
