Redbank Plains Library, Ipswich Libraries (1985- )

Redbank Plains Library (previously the Moreton Shire Library) was opened by then Deputy Premier Bill Gunn and Moreton Shire Council Chairman Neil Russell on the 23rd October 1985.

The shire librarian at the time was Jenny Moore and had 12,000 books when it first opened. At the time, it was the only public library in Queensland with a computerised catalogue system.

The building was designed by Ipswich architect Nevil Tait to look like a large old colonial home, set on 41 hectares. In 1985 it cost $400,000 to build and set up.
