Description

DescriptionH. L. Jones & Sons factory and tinsmith's shop in background. The girls are dressed in the robes that Valma Jones wore as the Goodna 'Digger Queen' for the year. An article in The Queensland Times, 23 September 2003, describes how Valma and Ruby Strong (nee ?) were named the Goodna RSL Sub Branch's Digger Queen and Princess in 1935. They, along with a third girl, raised £100 for returned servicemen.
