The Bostock Chambers building on the corner of Brisbane and Ellenborough Streets was constructed in 1915 for the family business of E. Bostock & Sons, a prominent and well established surveyors and auctioneers in Ipswich. George Brockwell Gill was the architect.
A newspaper article in the Queensland Times titled 'More Old Landmarks Demolished' on 12 August 1914 stated:
Both Messrs. Bostock and Sons and Mr. J. B. Colthup, of Nicholas Street, intend to erect fine two-storeyed brick buildings on the corner named.
Enoch Bostock was involved in the founding of the Ipswich Show society and an alderman in 1881-1882.
