Events

• Our growing collection of Events can be used to illustrate changes in the way we have celebrated and commemorated events as a community over time

Map Search

• Use the Picture Ipswich Map Search to locate images of a street or locality familiar to students, this could be around the school or the street where they live

Photos

• Our Family Portraits collection can be used by to show students how families have changed over time, such as the number of children in a family
• Encourage students to bring in a series of photos of their family over several generations

Places

• Picture Ipswich has collection hubs that cover all Ipswich suburbs and localities 
• As a class, explore content from images, written histories, videos, oral histories and more from your area
• For additional photos to complement the Children's History Activities: Year 1, Activity 4 - Discovering the Bremer River activity sheet, visit our Bremer River collection
• If your area or school is underrepresented, students could identify what is missing and help us to fill in the gaps by contributing photos

School Activity Sheets

• The People In My Family: In this activity, students learn more about genealogy by interviewing a relative. Responses can be written on the worksheet or students can record the interview with a smartphone.
• This Is My Family: This worksheet gives students an opportunity to draw their family tree.
• Where Is My Family From: Through a series of maps, students trace their family's journey.
• Discovering The Bremer River: The Bremer River was a valuable source of food and medicines for the traditional owners of Ipswich. It has also been an important transportation corridor.

Timelines

• Picture Ipswich is developing a number of Timelines that could be used in class to demonstrate the sequence of events
