Sadliers Crossing
Description
Place TypeSuburbsHistory
This suburb evidently derived its name from local landholder Thomas Sadlier. There was a Constable Sadlier in the Ipswich Police force in 1860 and several other people around Queensland called Sadlier. The crossing refers to a shallow ford in the river at this point. Spelling variations have occurred over the years and include: Sadlier's, Sadleir's, Sadler's and Saddler's Crossing.
