The first One Mile Hotel at the corner of Brisbane Street and Moore Lane (now Hooper Street) in Little Ipswich (West Ipswich as it is now known) was established in 1866.
In 1885, Jack King took over the One Mile hotel and rebuilt it. In April 1911, architect R.T. Coutts called tenders for a two-storey brick hotel at One Mile for Nicholas Kerwick. The hotel was renovated and enlarged.
Then in 1937 a new One Mile Hotel was built of brick and plaster on the site of the old tavern.
The hotel was finally demolished in December 2015 despite being included in the 1991 Ipswich Heritage Study.
