DescriptionTo improve his health, John Ernest Greenham (1871-1917) set off on the RMS Ophir in 1895 for England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Switzerland, Italy, Egypt and the Holy Lands. In his three travel journals, he wrote of his experiences of the ocean voyage, traveling through the Suez Canal, visiting family, friends and friends of friends as he traveled through Britain, Europe and then on to the Holy Lands. A keen musician, Ernest took every opportunity to play the organ in the churches he visited.
