The Jagera People
From singing a river song to hunting and collecting from ancient times to recent times the Jagera People still maintain their connection to country, passing down their traditional customs and lore.

The late Senior Jagera elder - Senator Neville Bonner often spoke of his connection to Jagera Country. Of how he fished, gathered wild weeping lilly pilly berries, collected local materials to craft his boomerangs and hunted native animals such as echidnas and kangaroo.

Additionally, Jagera elder Sam Bonner in his late 20s tells a story of when he was a young child his female elders would take the children fishing, with rods made from locally sourced branches, and how they would sing the River Song to the river to offer them a meal for the family. They would catch enough fish to provide a good meal. He prides himself in being taught the River Song and how the fish would simply obey and hook themselves on their lines.
