Amberley District State School

Warrill Creek State School, opened 2nd June 1862, was renamed Amberley State School in 1903.

According to the book "End of an era: Amberley State School" and several newspaper articles Amberley State School was built in 1862 on a property known as "Willow-Bank" on Warrill Creek which was an area then known as "Three Mile" and later renamed "Amberley".  The property of "Willow-Bank" was owned by Darby McGrath and the school was named Warrill Creek School number 115 in 1863 (there were 41 children enrolled at this time).

The book and newspaper articles then go on to say that the Warrill Creek School (now Amberley State School) was moved in 1888 from the "Willow-Bank" property to Toowoomba Road in the district of Amberley, however it still retained the Warrill Creek School name. It wasn't until 1903 that the school's name was changed to Amberley State School. 

During World War II, the school was temporarily closed from 1942 until 1947 with the buildings and grounds used by the RAAF.  Students attended other local schools during this time.

The school relocated in January 2010 and was renamed Amberley District State School.
