Pickering's Bridge
There has been a Pickering's Bridge in this area since at least the 1880s. Thirty-two people signed a petition in 1911 expressing the need for a bridge over the Bundanba (now Bundamba) Creek on the site of the old viaduct that was known as Pickering's Bridge. The Bundanba and Purga Council's considered the petition and met in May 1911 to discuss a jointly funded bridge. They were still in discussions in October 1912.
The Public Works Department agreed to the erection of a three-girder structure on the site as long as it was no more than 14ft. Thomas Fitzpatrick contact the Council requesting that a hand rail be added to the nearly completed bridge. In May 1913 a wing-fence was erected on the structure.
New deckings were laid for the bridge in 1929 and in 1948 Moreton Council were considering whether Pickering's Bridge should be repaired or replaced. John Wilson and Partners estimated that the cost to repair the bridge would be two hundred and fifty pounds. The Council allowed a budget of two hundred pounds for the construction of Pickering's Bridge which would be the third structure to cross the creek at this point.
