DescriptionThis image is from William Johnson’s World War I album. On the reverse of the photo it is noted that (?) Foote, William Johnson and Len Jackson are standing. Kneeling in front is R.O and B. Foote. William served in Gallipoli, Egypt and France. He was seriously wounded at the third battle at Ypres in September 1917. He carried two pieces of shell from that encounter until his death in 1966. His family owned the Johnson Coach Works in Ipswich and he was later Managing Director of Radio Station 4IP. At least 7 members of Ipswich's Foote families served in World War I.
