DescriptionIn 1858 the residents of Ipswich petitioned the governor of New South Wales to grant land for a public park recreation ground and botanic gardens. The request was granted on September 16 1858 and in May 1862 a Deed of Grant for 207 acres and 14 perches was recorded.
