Description
DescriptionLooking East along Brisbane Street from St Paul's Anglican Church, showing the Blackall memorial fountain and the Art Gallery (originally School of Arts building). The Blackall memorial fountain originally stood on the corner of Brisbane and Nicholas Streets and featured large ornate gas lanterns and a water fountain. It was built to honour Governor Samuel Wensley Blackall, the second Governor of Queensland. The architect was F.D.G. Stanley. When traffic became a problem in 1928, the fountain was removed and re-erected on Denmark Hill. References (offline)Queensland Times, December 8, 1986
