DescriptionThe Fruit Mart was in the old Queensland Times building on the corner of Brisbane and Ellenborough Streets. It was owned by Mick Manlon (Manyon?) and at the time was managed by Fred Betts. “Apples came in cardboard boxes, each apple being individually wrapped in tissue paper, staff had to remove the tissue paper and then polish the apples with the paper for display. Oranges were placed in a hessian sugar bag then rocked back and forward so they came out shiny for the display. (Margaret Hutchins/Culley)
