Description

DescriptionIn 1916 the Booval picture theatre advertised an opening show. In July 1919 the theatre became the Alpha. At this time it was owned by (Jack) Neville and Johnson. Messrs Lonie and Donald purchased the theatre 1921/1922. In 1929 a modern structure was erected by Ike Lonie and Jack Donald. A temporary licence was granted to Lloyd Verrall in 1953. The Theatre was sold to the UFS Dispensary in 1962. In 1971 it was demolished to make way for the UFS Dispensary (now Friendly Care Pharmacy).References (offline)See articles on Trove in the Queensland Times, for information on the history of the theatre
