DescriptionBrisbane Street, looking up from the corner of East Street, with the Palais Royal Hotel in the foreground. The Post Office clock tower can be seen in the background. The Palais Royal Hotel was built in 1859 on the corner of East and Brisbane Streets. It was destroyed by fire in the early 1970s and was then demolished to make room for the Ipswich Tavern. From the Palais Royal, Betty Alone’s Hairdressing Salon (upstairs), Woulfe & Son, agent for Dependable Dry Cleaners, the City Café at 80 Brisbane Street, F. A.
