A memorial can also be a building structure, statue or plaques, the difference is that a memorial honours a person or people who have died.
Examples of Memorials in Ipswich include the Soldiers Memorial Hall in Nicholas Street and the Sangster Memorial in Brown Park at North Ipswich. Examples of Monuments include the Obelisk in the d'ARcy Doyle Place and the Monument to Queensland's first railway line at the Grandchester Railway Station.
