Description
DescriptionText of 10 minute interview with Margaret Pawson on her experiences during the Ipswich flood. She talks about not being able to give an accurate account of the flooding of her house, as her family packed her up with an overnight bag and her dog, on the Tuesday morning and brought her to their house. She talks of her family subsequently making more trips to get as much of her belongs as they could before they couldn't get in. After the flood receded she relates that her family wouldn't let her back into her house until it had been cleaned out and when she did come back it was eerie, a different house. She talks about being overwhelmed with the help and generosity of people, a lot like when she was an evacuee in England during the war, she hopes this is the part that will stay with her. The floods occurred in January and peaked on Wednesday 12 January. More detailed information can be found in the local newspapers and media.
