Moores Pocket
Mr and Mrs George Schmitt were among the first settlers at Moores Pocket. Their daughter, Annie Margaret Schmitt died on 4 January 1934 aged over seventy. Annie was born in Germany and came to Australia with her family when she was an infant. After the death of her parents and her brother, Annie and her sister Mary Catherine Schmitt ran the family farm.
The flood of 1893 impacted the residents of Moores Pocket with many having to leave their homes. Luke Power's and G. Woods homes were carried away by flood waters as was the kitchen of Mr. W. G. Walker. Others affected were W. Perry, P. Erskine, J. Hefferan, G. Schmidt, W. Woods and Edding.
In 1943 Francis James Stephens celebrated his 86th birthday. Born at Moores Pocket in 1857 he was considered to be the oldest living early settler at the time.
